Volunteer Event Organizer John Gianforte



Over the last five years John has been a co-chair of the New England Fall Astronomy Festival. John is also the Co-founder of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England and you can find him at the UNH Observatory for the twice-monthly public observing sessions held on the first and third Saturday nights each month.

By night, John is an active Astronomer–by day, he is an Astronomy Lecturer for the Physics Department at the University of New Hampshire, Granite State College and for the Navitas at UNH program. His main astronomical research interests are: observing transits of extrasolar planets, cataclysmic variable stars, comets, asteroids and supernovae.  He also writes about astronomy on his web site:

Doris Gianforte, Committee Coordinator




Doris Gianforte, 5th Grade Science Teacher at Rye Elementary School, has been on the NEFAF Organization Committee since 2011. She has coordinated the Kids’ Hands-On-Science activities for NEFAF since its inception. She also organizes the Special Guest Receptions and helps with volunteer recruitment.

Heather is a UNH Alum, UNH Physics Library Manager, and NEFAF Volunteer in charge of Volunteer Coordination and Promotions. Caleigh MacPherson, Volunteer Organizer

Caleigh Macpherson





Caleigh MacPherson is a Mechanical Engineer from New Hampshire who previously worked on NASA Satellites. In addition she was team lead of an award-winning lunar mining robot for the UNH LunaCats. This NASA Solar System Ambassador is also an ambassador for the NASA Osiris-Rex mission and the Aurorasaurus research project. In her spare time she attends NASA Socials, builds robots for fun, and continues to make positive impact everywhere she goes.
